Scott and Heather Fratangelo are like most couples that decide to venture into the restaurant business. They wanted to own their own place. Scott and Heather met at Danny Meyer's Union Square Cafe, Scott was one of the cooks, Heather was a pastry chef. Taking a location, that a half- dozen tenants before them went out of business in , Scott and Heather opened Spigolo in the Spring of 2005. Spigolo opened to rave reviews, garnering a strong ** review from the New York Times. The 2006 Zagat Survey gave Spigolo an incredible (26) which is rated outstanding for food. New York Magazine voted Spigolo as the "Best Neighborbood" restaurant in the city. Spigolo is without question, one of New York's toughest reservations to acquire, as it only has 30 seats during the winter months. Spigolo offers outdoor dining in the Summer months and has 25 seats available for dining al fresco. The toughest part for Heather who doubles as front of the house when she isn't the pastry chef is the fact that each weekend, more than 200 people call for a Friday and Saturday night reservation. Heather handles each call incredibly well as each guests come in from all over the Tri-State area to dine here. Compared to other Italian restaurants of this caliber, Spigolo offers incredible value. Scott and Heather are a couple that you want to root for. Incredibly friendly and sincere, they both make you feel at home the moment you meet them. This is a classic feel-good story of a young couple, who take nothing for granted and use each day as a proving ground to see if they belong amongst the finest restaurants in New York City. I can state with confidence that Spigolo, is one of New York's best retsaurants. The staff is first rate, obviously taking a cue from the owners themselves. Enjoying food in a relaxed dress mode is very common these days and Spigolo welcomes one and all to enjoy what they offer nightly. Scott and Heather Fratangelo are very special people who I believe New Yorker's will get to know on a bigger stage in the near future, as there talent is obvious to all that know them. Their stars shine very brightly and I for one know that whatever they choose to do, it will be done with style and class, emphasizing the style that has gotten them this far to date.
